Definitely bitter
There are those moments that give you a real glimpse at the spirit of a person: moments of surprise where, just for an instant, you see their true face. The haters gave us that moment today when the U.S. didn’t win its bid to host the 2016 Olympics despite a personal pitch made by Obama in Copenhagen for his home town of Chicago.
“Cheers erupt at Weekly Standard world headquarters,” wrote editor John McCormack in a post titled “Chicago Loses! Chicago Loses!”
This is the flag-waving, Homeland-loving Weekly Standard. And they weren’t alone: Drudge, Glenn Beck, Rush, Malkin. They all were giddy. The Weekly Standard quickly regained its composure and removed the line but not before the liberal ThinkProgress screencapped it.
I’m loathe to call these people conservatives because this isn’t conservatism. This is hate, envy and spite of the most petty kind. I call these people haters because it’s their true, ugly nature and because I want to differentiate them from real conservatives – which as far as I can tell is just the libertarians at this point.
These haters want Obama to lose even if it means America loses. I’ll go further, they want America to lose if it means Obama loses. And this defines everything they’re doing at this point.
I’m happy for Rio and glad that South America is getting a chance to host the games for the first time. And I thank the IOC for letting us really see these nasty, little bastards for what they are and in full, clear view.

As a Chicago resident, I’ve got to say I lobbied against the Olympics coming here. If the IOC has bribery problems in Utah, Chicago would have destroyed them. We’ve got so many infrastructure problems to be dealt with before we displace thousands of residents and rip up neighborhoods. But I made a big mistake looking at the Craigslist “Rants & Raves” page after the decision was announced, and…holy crap. So much graphic racist hootin’ ‘n hollerin’, all equating the IOC’s decision as a vote against the President. And I’m not just saying “racist” because I’m easily offended. Like, seriously. Some heavy stuff. Good thing we weren’t chosen, we would have been an enormous embarrassment to the nation.

Right on target. These ‘conservatives’ hate the President more than they love our country, as they have shown many times over.
