Today’s FFS: Ted Stevens declares, “I have not been convicted of anything”

October 31st, 2008

Clearly, Ted Stevens is seeking to retroactively plead insanity. He was convicted on seven counts and how he’s repeatedly claiming that he wasn’t convicted. CNN:

“I have not been convicted of anything,” he maintained during a Thursday night debate in Anchorage, only days before Tuesday’s election.

From Tuesday: FOX News: Sen. Ted Stevens Convicted on 7 Corruption Counts, Pledges to Pursue Campaign

I guess “Pledges to Pursue Campaign” in GOP-speak has come to mean just say any old nonsense and lies to win.

Must be an Alaska thing – Sarah Palin did the same thing when she said how glad she was to be cleared of all ethical misconduct in the Troopergate case when the report clearly stated that she *had* engaged in ethical misconduct.

As much as I dislike “Tubes”, I feel the need to defend him a little. He’s just saying that it’s not over until he appeals the decision. It’s all moot, though, since even if the appeal is successful, it won’t be over with until long after Mark Begich crushes him in the Senate race.
