U.S. Attacks Syria
October 27th, 2008According to the BBC, Syria says four U.S. Helicopters crossed the Iraq-Syria border and bombed a civilian building killing eight people including four children.
“Syria condemns this aggressive act and holds American forces responsible for this aggression and all of its repercussions,” a government official said.
If confirmed, the raid would be the first known attack by US forces inside Syrian territory, says BBC diplomatic correspondent Jonathan Marcus.
Really?!? Ten days before the election?
What was fascinating about the BBC World Service radio broadcast is the sense that the Syrians recognize that this attack represents an offensive of the Bush administration and that Syria’s response would be tempered by the fact that the election is so close.
This really is a change election.

Here’s the thing that confuses me. The BBC states that eight people were killed, four of them children. NPR yesterday states eight people were killed, all of them suspected of helping muslim fighters enter Iraq. So why the differing reports? Were four of the dead small children (like the report insinuates) or were they four teenagers who were in fact helping insurgents?
