Two weeks until election day
October 21st, 2008Here’s where the Presidential race stands…
- According to Pollster.com, given where the natoal polling currently stands: the Electoral College map has McCain with 157 Electoral votes, Obama with 284 and 95 tossup votes (270 is needed to win).
- According to prediction site fivethirtyeight.com, they predict Obama will win with 344 electoral votes to McCain’s 194. They give Obama a 92.5% chance of winning at this stage.
- Colin Powell endorsed Obama on Sunday. The McCain advocates are trying to dismiss it as simply a black guy supporting a black guy. Powell made his case pretty clear and dismissing his endorsement based on his race is just bigotry. Sorry, bigots.
- Chuck Todd of NBC and MSNBC – one of the very best journalists and analysts – said he simply doesn’t see how McCain can win at this point and says McCain is essentially conceding the popular vote. Todd also suggested that the only chance McCain has is to “disqualify” Obama – which is clearly what the last-ditch smear effort is aimed at.
- McCain’s camp in giving up on Colorado. They gave up on Michigan a couple weeks back.
- Obama is suspending campaigning for two days on Thursday and Friday to head to Hawaii to spend time with his grandmother whose health is deteriorating.
- Joe the Plumber was a guest on O’Reilly last night. He’s now done more interviews than Sarah Palin.
- Obama’s camp announced bringing in $155 million!!! in September. This is a stunning amount. Obama and the DNC have $130 million on hand for the final two weeks. There’s definitely a strip idea in there about Dems paying now and Republicans paying later.
Fourteen days and eleven Socks and Barney strips until it’s all over.

So what’s next when this is over? I’ve loved the commentary in the strip, especially during the primaries (when you had a little more varied material to hit). Would love to see more of something similar.

As a Coloradan, I am very excited to hear that they’ve given up. It’s a little confusing though, considering Palin was -just- here yesterday. tbh I think he’s given up because we’re a shoe-in for Republicans… I hate this place.
And I second Mike’s concerns. Is S&B gonna die after the election?

The plan always seemed to be to stop S&B when the election was over. Does Obama even have a pet?

I’m working on something new to start when Socks and Barney ends. I’ll keep everyone posted!
