29 days to go
October 6th, 2008Election day is four weeks from tomorrow and the deadline to register in many states (including here in Virginia) is today. The latest Suffolk University poll gives Obama a 12-point lead in Virginia, 51-39.
Today marks the 200th episode of Sock and Barney.
As it stands, McCain is losing badly. He’s pulled out of Michigan and even sent Palin to campaign in Nebraska – a state where Bush won by 22 points last time around – to hold on to Omaha’s electoral vote (Nebraska is not a winner-take-all state).
McCain’s campaign is trying to pivot away from the economy and war to focus on the “do we really know Obama?” While McCain’s playing that game, the Dow had a bigger drop than last week… 800 points.
The economy is in the crapper and Captain Deregulation is swiftboating Obama. The really, really sad thing is that this tactic was proven to not work when Clinton tried it during the primaries and will just further discredit McCain. The more vicious and nasty McCain gets, the more people will question his temperament and turn him into a joke.
News items:
Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley cuts a strong radio ad which looks to help Obama in the areas where his Democratic support is weakest.
Andrew Sullivan’s site points out this gem:
And this needs to be added… “This doesn’t happen in America! Maybe Ohio, but not in America!”
Obama launches KeatingEconomics.com to continue to hammer away where McCain is weakest. Let’s face it though, if you’re not old enough to remember the Keating Five scandal, you’re probably voting for Obama anyway. I suspect the real purpose of the site is to educate reporters who weren’t alive at the time or never understood the S&L crisis and to give the voracious media some clips to “balance” their McCain-attack coverage with.
And finally, Obama’s latest ad…
