Krauthhammer throws in the towel

October 3rd, 2008

Today’s Washington Post has a column from conservative Charles Krauthammer in which he joins George Will from last week in stating the obvious…

Nonetheless, [Obama]’s got both a first-class intellect and a first-class temperament. That will likely be enough to make him president.”

Though conceding the election, the piece is peppered with nonsense like, do we really know who Obama is and what he believes? That’s just fear-mongering gibberish. I’ll stipulate that nobody really knows anyone but our experience shows that of the cadidates running, Obama’s voice has been the most consistent and rational.

For anyone who missed George Will’s column from last week, you can find it here.

It is arguable that, because of his inexperience, Obama is not ready for the presidency. It is arguable that McCain, because of his boiling moralism and bottomless reservoir of certitudes, is not suited to the presidency. Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost, by experience. Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?

Even the die-hard, blinders-wearing theocons and neocons are starting to see the writing on the wall.
