Phil Gramm steps down as McCain campaign co-chair
July 18th, 2008McCain’s chief economic advisor and the author of the “Enron loophole” has recently caught so much flack for calling the U.S. a “nation of whiners” that he has stepped down as co-chairman of the McCain campaign.
TalkingPointsMemo reports that Gramm’s “step down” is in the now classic George W. Bush tradition in that he’ll still be advising McCain campaign.
For those unfamiliar with the tradition…
a) The offender is caught doing or saying something so offensive ON TAPE that the mainstream media gets to play it on a loop while feigning indignation and incredulity
b) The offender “steps down” from the high-profile position to “avoid being a distraction” or to “spend more time with their family”
c) The candidate/president struts around acting like the offender’s departure was an example of how they don’t cotton no shenanigans
d) The offender is replaced with the offender’s immediate subordinate or equally corrupt business partner
e) Finally, the offender orders new business cards with a slightly different title but stays in the same office with the same perks offering the same awful advice or performing the same scandalous services
Reform with results!
