Mark Penn finally screws up big enough
April 7th, 2008Mark Penn finally got kicked from his position as Clinton’s Chief Strategist and jester. It’s wasn’t because the campaign is losing or that he’s said a string of ridiculous, offensive things. It was because he met with Colombia’s Ambassador to the United Nations in an effort to help promote Colombia’s free trade agreement which Hillary Clinton claims she’s opposed to (though she claims she was opposed to NAFTA but her released schedule from 90s shows she actively promoted it).
The stickiest bit is that the Colombian Ambassador says he’s not sure whether Penn was representing his PR firm or Clinton. AWWWkward.
The craziest bit is that Mark Penn has been president of his PR firm the whole time he’s been Clinton’s campaign chief. Seriously, if you get to be the chief campaign strategist for the presumptive next president of the United States - which is what Clinton was back when he took the gig - you quit your day job.
