Let’s ban the use of analogies
March 26th, 2008
Obama-supporter Air Force General Merrill A. McPeak compares Bill Clinton to Joe McCarthy for questioning Obama’s patriotism. Bill Clinton compares Obama to Jesse Jackson after Obama wins South Carolina. Obama team member Samantha Powers calls Clinton a monster.
Stop already.
No more analogies if you suck at it.
The absolute worst one was Clinton-supporter James Carville calling Obama-endorsing Bill Richardson “Judas.”
Richardson was not behaving like Judas when he endorsed Obama after being a loyal Clinton henchman all these years. He was behaving like Miss Tessmacher from the 1978 Superman movie. If you remember, Miss Tessmacher had a cushy gig with Lex Luther (and had the promise of a place in Luther’s new world order). When Tessmacher realized just how ruthless, crazy and cruel Luthor was, she asked, “Why is it I can’t get it on with the good guys?” and helped remove the Kryptonite from around a drowning Superman’s neck.
See? It’s perfect!
James Carville should have said, “Bill Richardson is like Miss Tessmacher with a fantastic beard.”
And yes, this means Mark Penn is Otis.
Hope this clears things up.
