Clinton: Sure, I’ll Poach Elected Delegates

March 10th, 2008

Hillary is interviewed in Newsweek

How can you win the nomination when the math looks so bleak for you?

It doesn’t look bleak at all. I have a very close race with Senator Obama. There are elected delegates, caucus delegates and superdelegates, all for different reasons, and they’re all equal in their ability to cast their vote for whomever they choose.

She’s saying that the reason her campaign’s plainly bleak situation doesn’t look bleak to her is that she’s willing to poach Obama’s pledged elected and caucus delegates. Those are the delegates chosen by the people in all the primaries and caucuses we’ve had.

And though this is technically legal, it is absolutely immoral. The Clintons make it clear that they equate what isn’t illegal with was is perfectly acceptable. It isn’t.

The Clinton campaign repeatedly makes the claim that they want the voices of Michigan and Florida to be heard (for the record, I think everyone does – the tricky bit is making sure whatever path is taken to clear this mess up is a fair one) and now Hillary says she’s perfectly willing to overturn that voice of the people if it gets in the way of her desperate lust for the presidency.

She is willing to steal the nomination is what she’s saying. Now, stealing in this context isn’t illegal. It’s still stealing though.

The Politico’s Roger Simon broke this story back in February and naturally, the Clinton campaign adamantly denied it.

That was another one of them there lies. Just like poaching elected and caucus delegates, lying isn’t illegal in that context, it’s just absolutely immoral.
