Super Fat Tuesday

February 4th, 2008

Only the United States puts their first almost-national, 20+ state primary on the same day as the drunken celebration of Mardis Gras. For the love of God, don’t throw beads at Chris Matthews tomorrow or he might flash his breasts.

Obama leads Clinton Nationally for the first time: CNN has just released a national poll with Obama up 3 points over Clinton. Gallup shows Hillary up four points from two. The polls are all over the map (remember, polls aren’t worth a damn). The only thing that they all show is better numbers for Obama than he had last week or two weeks ago. I think Clinton has a big ol’ machine in place and if past primaries are any indication, we’ll only learn about the dirty tricks they’re using after the votes are counted.

Obama gaining ground in California: Zogby shows Obama ahead in California  (remember, polls aren’t worth a damn). Obama gets the endorsement of the LA Times and the country’s largest Spanish-language newspaper La Opinon and California’s first lady Maria Shriver.

Zogby shows Romney ahead in California. While most of the GOP states are winner-take-all for delegates, California isn’t. McCain is looking good for Tuesday. The general thought out there is that Huckabee’s presence in the race is cutting directly into Romney’s support and may deliver Super Tuesday for McCain.

I’ll be blogging all night Tuesday and linking to the best reports I can find. If I’m missing something, let me know.
